NEPC Mentoring Program

Motivate - Advise - Inspire

Additional Information

Participation in the NEPC Mentoring Program is an opportunity to share insight, learn from others, and broaden your career in a unique and meaningful way.  Mentoring Programs have been successful in many Parking Organizations.  Through them, they’ve learned more about themselves, the parking industry, the business environment, and how to succeed and lead. We hope the NEPC Mentoring Program will offer the same benefits as seen in the industry.  The program is a great learning environment for mentor candidates and a rewarding teaching tool for mentors.

What To Expect: The mentoring program runs for 6 months beginning mid-January. It consists of regular (at least once per month) meetings between mentors and their candidates.  The mentor and mentoring candidate pairs will meet (virtually or in-person) to discuss the mentoring candidate’s goals as described in her/his completed mentoring application.

The NEPC Mentoring Committee will conduct quarterly check-ins to ensure that the experience for all program participants is aligned with their expectations.

What is a Mentoring Program

Mentoring Program connects less experienced members with more experienced parking & mobility professionals for career advice, guidance, and support. The program was designed based on member feedback. It is run by a committee of parking & mobility professionals to ensure all participants are supported and get value from participating in the program.

These days mentoring is rarely a one-way street. Technology has greatly impacted the world of parking and mobility and oftentimes less experienced professionals simply know more about technology. While Mentors share value lessons and guidance about professional and life experience, Mentees should be ready to share their own expertise with their Mentors.

Program Length

The matching period, called the matching cycle, is six months long. The program is run twice per year, starting in the first quarter and running until the Fall. Each participating Mentor and Mentee must commit to working together for the entire six-month matching period. Enrollment is open now for the current matching period which will start in January 2023 and end in June 2023. All applications are due by 12/31/2022.

Time Requirements

As a program participant, you are required to interact with your Mentor/Mentee at least once a month. Each relationship will be different, but to get the most out of the program, we recommend a minimum of 1-1/2 hours per month spent on the program and at least one interaction per month. Your first meeting must be in person or via video to create the relationship, set goals and expectations. After the first meeting, interactions may take place through in-person meetings, video chat, or telephone calls.
